Description
THE ROLE PURPOSE (LINK TO OVERALL BUSINESS OBJECTIVES, EG. ARRP)
- The ERP Product Manager is responsible for shaping and executing the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Equity Group’s Oracle ERP platforms (On-premise and Fusion Cloud).
- The role drives digital transformation, operational efficiency, and business process optimization in alignment with Equity Group’s Africa Recovery and Resilience Plan (ARRP).
- This includes managing end-to-end ERP implementations, integrations, upgrades, and ensuring the platforms deliver scalable, compliant, and innovative solutions that support sustainable growth across Equity Group’s markets.
THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (DUTIES)
Product Management:
- Lead the full lifecycle management of Oracle ERP products, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, upgrades, and ongoing support.
- Develop and maintain the ERP product roadmap, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business needs and technology trends.
- Oversee successful implementation and integration of Oracle ERP (On-premise and Fusion Cloud) across business units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, HR, Procurement, IT, Operations) to ensure ERP solutions meet business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Drive process automation and digital transformation initiatives within the ERP ecosystem.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into ERP product features and configurations.
- Communicate product vision, updates, and releases to internal teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Coordinate with IT, development, and external consultants for ERP integrations, data migrations, and customizations.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Document ERP specifications, user stories, business process flows, and acceptance criteria for all modules and enhancements.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, ERP performance, and user feedback for management and stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and adoption of new Oracle ERP features.
- Evaluate and implement new modules, integrations, and technologies to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of ERP strategy, defining and prioritizing features that align with overall business objectives.
- Conduct market and competitor research to identify best practices and innovation opportunities.
- Participate in vendor selection and management for Oracle and third-party integrations.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Define and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap for internal enterprise applications.
- Act as the primary liaison between business units, IT, and development teams to gather, validate, and prioritize user requirements.
- Documented user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Stakeholder alignment reports and feedback logs.
- Regular stakeholder engagement sessions and satisfaction surveys.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of internal application features and enhancements, ensuring timely and quality releases.
KEY DECISIONS MADE BY THE POSITION-HOLDER (NOT RECOMMENDATIONS) AND HOW OFTEN
- Prioritize ERP product features, modules, and enhancements based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility.
- Define and update the ERP product roadmap to align with evolving business needs.
- Finalize release scope and approve go/no-go decisions for ERP deployments and upgrades.
COMPLEXITY EXPECTED IN THE ROLE
- Manage cross-functional ERP implementations across multiple countries and regions.
- Deliver solutions that are scalable, localized, and compliant with country-specific requirements (e.g., tax, HR policies, procurement rules).
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws, internal policies, and cybersecurity standards.
- Coordinate with external vendors, Oracle consultants, and technology partners for integrations and support.

KEY TECHNICAL AND LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN THE ROLE
- Proficiency in managing the full ERP product lifecycle: discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Deep expertise in Oracle ERP (On-premises and Fusion Cloud) implementation, configuration, and integration.
- Hands-on experience with Agile frameworks, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
- Ability to analyze and redesign business processes for efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Understanding how ERP platforms integrate with other enterprise systems (e.g., core banking, CRM, data warehouses) via APIs or middleware.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in ERP product management, with at least 3 years implementing Oracle ERP (Onpremise and Fusion Cloud).
- Experience delivering ERP solutions in regulated environments (banking, financial services, or large enterprise).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum, SAFe) methodologies.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must-Haves:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have:
-
Certifications in Oracle ERP, Product Management, Change Management, Agile methodologies (Scrum/SAFe).
