PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The Enumerator will support Farm Africa’s Youth in Sustainable Aquaculture (YISA) Annual Survey by collecting high-quality quantitative and qualitative data from project participants across the six target counties. The role ensures that data is gathered ethically, accurately, and in line with the survey’s methodology, enabling effective monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adaptive management of the program.
  • Enumerators will work closely with the YISA MEL team, attending training, pre-testing survey tools, conducting field data collection, and submitting accurate and timely data

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key areas of responsibilities are:

  • Training and Inception
  • Attend a comprehensive training workshop on project background, survey objectives, methodology, and data collection tools (ODK).
  • Participate in pre-testing of survey tools and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Field Data Collection
  • Conduct surveys with assigned participants in designated counties using digital tools (ODK).
  • Gather both quantitative and qualitative data in line with provided guidelines. Ensure ethical standards and confidentiality are maintained throughout the process.
  • Data Submission and Field Reporting
  • Upload all collected data daily to the central server.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed field notes.
  • Provide brief daily updates to the MEL Officer on progress, challenges, and observations.
  • Equipment Management
  • Ensure proper use, care, and return of assigned data collection devices.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education & Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Agriculture, or related field.
  • Proficiency in digital data collection platforms (ODK, Kobo Toolbox, or similar).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection.
  • Access to an Android phone.

Experience

  • Experience in agricultural, aquaculture, or market systems-related surveys.
  • Knowledge of local languages in assigned counties
