Early Years Intern

Work with lead teachers in/ outside class rooms to reinforce learning, manage learners and provide specialized care as well as individual attention to students. Ride with the school bus/ van and assist the driver in managing learners during transport. Promote the core values of the school and to support the Christian values which it espouses.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Learning
  • Assist lead teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
  • Teach or assist the lead teacher in teaching and delivering learning.
  • Work with the lead teacher to plan, coordinate work and monitor the class schedule.
  • Revise lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
  • Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and on field excursions.
  • Collaborate with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
  • Supervises free play and outdoor play and also supervises the children during field trips.
  • Supervises and assists children with meals. Ensures that children on a restricted diet are given the proper food.
  • Supervises and assist children with accessing washrooms.

Bus Attendance

  • Rides the bus on a rotating basis in the morning and afternoon, as assigned, to assist the bus drivers.
  • Ensures that the students are comfortable on school transport.
  • Follow safety rules as students are boarding and exiting buses, and as they cross streets near bus stops.
  • Pick and drop students at designated locations following strict time schedules and assist students to cross the streets/ roads.
  • Manage students’ behavior inside the bus during transport and report any concerns regarding students to the Administrator.
  • Know the school bus evacuation procedures and be physically capable to evacuate students in an emergency

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Recent graduate of Bachelor in Early Childhood Education. Years of graduation should be 2023 to 2024.
  • TSC Registered Teacher.
  • Maximum of one-year work experience in a school set up.
  • Availability to start immediately should the candidate be successful for this position.
