The Paediatric Surgeon at the Hospital specializes in performing surgical procedures on pediatric patients. This role exists to provide expert surgical care, improve the health and well-being of children, and ensure the highest standards of pediatric surgery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions in pediatric patients.
- Perform surgical procedures on infants, children, and adolescents.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with pediatricians and other specialists for comprehensive care.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in pediatric surgery.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring junior medical staff.
- Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree (MMed) in General Surgery or equivalent specialization from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Served for a minimum period of nine (9) years relevant work, five (5) of which should have been in a Management position.
- Evidence of having taken a leadership course. v. Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council register.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Recognition as a specialist or sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
- Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council
- Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
