Corporate Affairs Intern
- The purpose of this role is to provide effective and accurate administrative support to deliver a range of governance and compliance duties to the highest possible standard to meet the needs of the business.
- In addition, support and report to the Manager, Corporate Affairs to effectively and efficiently meet the objectives of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory and Regulatory Compliance
- Assist in ensuring that Acorn’s operations adhere to relevant local and national laws by supporting compliance monitoring activities.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to support compliance with; governance and
- legal standards, reviewing processes and monitoring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Help identify and escalate potential compliance concerns, and support tracking the resolution of such issues.
- Assist in tracking and reporting on the status of compliance action points.
- Conduct basic research on changes in relevant laws and regulations and provide summaries for internal use.
- Provide administrative support to the compliance officer in implementing regulatory requirements for Acorn’s regulated entities.
- Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial
- Assist in preparing materials for board meetings and AGMs, including drafting meeting agendas and tracking calendar items.
- Support the coordination and timely distribution of board papers and other documentation.
- Help ensure that board procedures are followed and assist in reviewing relevant governance documents.
- Record and compile board and committee resolutions and follow up on action items with relevant teams.
- Support the maintenance of corporate records and registers across Acorn and its affiliated entities.
- Assist in the filing of statutory returns, declarations, and other company secretarial documentation under guidance.
- Liaise with outsourced company secretarial service providers and registrars under supervision.
- Administration
- Assist in compiling annual plans and progress reports for the Corporate Affairs function.
- Help monitor expenditure against the department’s budget under supervision.
- Maintain corporate affairs records, databases, and tracking tools as assigned.
- Perform other general administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the Corporate Affairs team.
Essential Qualifications
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree, obtained within the past two (2) years, in Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Pursuing professional certification as a Certified Secretary (CS), with a minimum of Intermediate or Part 2 Level completed.
- Basic understanding of corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and corporate governance principles.
- Familiarity with statutory compliance requirements and company secretarial practices is an added advantage.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
