Community Health Officer II

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement community health policies, strategies, and programs in line with national and county health priorities.
  • Conduct community health needs assessments and participate in planning and implementation of health interventions.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and mentor Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and community health committees.
  • Promote health education and behavioral change communication at the community level.
  • Conduct household visits, community dialogue, and action days on key health issues.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze community health data and prepare periodic reports.
  • Identify and refer clients in need of curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services to appropriate facilities.
  • Support disease surveillance, outbreak response, and health promotion activities.
  • Establish and maintain linkages between the community and health facilities.
  • Promote inter-sectoral collaboration and community participation in health and development activities.

Requirements for Appointment:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Health, Public health, Community Health and Development, or, Health Education, or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in health education, community health assessment tools, data analysis software, electronic health records systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community health, public health programs, health promotion, or related roles. Experience working in underserved communities is desirable.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
