Communications & Community Associate

  • The Communication & Advocacy Associate will lead Chancen Kenya’s communications efforts to build brand awareness and drive engagement, leading social media campaigns and media partnerships to communicate about our work. They will also lead the Chancen Community efforts, engaging our community of members to support them in their journeys, during their studies and after, with workshops, events, communications and more.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Duties

  • Communication Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance Chancen Kenya’s brand positioning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Design and lead social media campaigns to increase engagement with potential and existing members.
  • Manage and maintain social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), ensuring consistent messaging and timely responses.
  • Lead broader media campaigns in major publications, radio, and TV to enhance public awareness of Chancen Kenya’s work.
  • Create compelling visual media assets (graphics, videos, infographics) to share Chancen’s value proposition and story through written posts and film.
  • Collect and curate member testimonials to showcase the impact of Chancen Kenya’s programmes
  • Collaborate with the Members Affairs team to align branding, messaging, and outreach efforts.
  • Monitor social media and online platforms to track conversations, respond to inquiries, and manage brand reputation.
  • Plan and execute events, ensuring smooth media outreach and collaboration with vendors and partners.
  • Regularly assess communication effectiveness through analytics, feedback, and stakeholder insights.
  • Community Engagement Responsibilities:
  • Student Monitoring and Support
  • Assist students with academic-related concerns.
  • Conduct and coordinate trimester activities, including Chancen values training and financial literacy workshops.
  • Follow up with students who violate Chancen rules and values.
  • Manage and resolve student disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct campus visits to address student queries.
  • Perform monthly check-in calls with students.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants, guardians, students, and stakeholders through departmental communication channels.
  • Alumni Support
  • Lead on communications with Chancen alumni, creating a strategy for engagement and ongoing support.
  • Support the implementation of community engagement activities that align with Chancen Kenya’s goals.
  • Support the implementation of community-building events, for example celebration events, workshops and networking sessions.
  • Support the coordination with community leaders/ambassadors to foster inclusivity and support networks, including targeted support for marginalized groups such as people living with disabilities.
  • Track engagement metrics and community feedback to refine strategies and measure impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Management, or a related field.
