Artisan Materials (Laboratory Technician) III – 13 Posts

Job Descriptions
Duties and responsibilities will entail: –

  • collecting and collating test samples for analytical, forensic andqualitycontrol purposes;
  • taking part in conducting tests on materials samples for analytical, forensic and quality control purposes;
  • packaging and transporting test samples to laboratories;
  • taking part in preparing laboratory reports;
  • taking part in disposal of laboratory waste and ensuring containment ofhazardous materials;
  • maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment;
  • participating in establishing and maintaining systems for preservingsamples for future and database referencing;
  • adhering to general laboratory safety, bio-safety and bio-securitymeasures and ensuring good laboratory practice;
  • carrying out tests on various samples for identification and strengthevaluation; and
  • maintaining public laboratories.

Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  • Certificate in any of the following fields: – Civil Engineering, BuildingTechnology or any other relevant and equivalent qualification fromarecognized institution;

OR

  • Occupational/Proficiency Test Certificate Grade III/II/I in Civil Engineeringfor Geological Laboratories from a recognized institution; and
  • Certificate in Computer proficiency
