Advocacy Officer
Responsibilities
- Programme management and coordination:
- Manage the administration of the coalition’s dedicated grants mechanism, ensuring timely completion of all finance and programme management processes.
- In collaboration with the Campaigns Manager, provide support to grantees in reporting on campaign progress, ensuring alignment with advocacy goals and timely reporting.
- Support the advocacy team in organising events at global conferences as relevant, including supporting travel arrangements for partners and coordinating logistics.
- Support the Blue Ventures advocacy team for other advocacy and campaign activities globally.
- Lead on ensuring programme management requirements are met for all grantees, including coordinating due diligence processes.
- Support the monitoring and reporting for the global advocacy team to contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning processes.
- Support reporting processes to donors as required.

- Communications:
- Collaborate with communications staff to ensure advocacy messages are effectively shared through digital platforms, media, and stakeholder outreach.
- Provide support to coalition members on campaign communications as applicable.
- Document and share lessons learnt, success stories, and best practices from the small grants programme and advocacy efforts.
Required Skills, Experience and Behaviours
Skills and Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and/or proven experience in international development or community-led environmental conservation.
- Proven experience managing small grants or community-based funding mechanisms, including due diligence, financial tracking, and reporting.
- Understanding of advocacy strategies and experience supporting or implementing advocacy or campaign activities, ideally in a global or multi-partner context.
- Ability to support monitoring and reporting processes, including the collection and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience supporting logistics for events or meetings, including travel arrangements and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
- Commitment to social and environmental justice, equity, inclusion and safeguarding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to convey complex messages clearly in presentations, meetings and written form, and to connect with people of all seniority levels and cultural backgrounds
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to marshal resources, and continually improve systems and processes
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Apps, and social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+)
