REQUIREMENTS:
For appointment to this position, a candidate MUST;
- Have an earned Doctorate degree [PhD] or equivalent degree in the relevant specialization area with a vast teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Have a strong research portfolio and MUST have served as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent position in an accredited University/Institution recognized by CUE;
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the Chairperson of the respective Academic Department, who is also the primary supervisor, successful Adjunct academic staff shall be required to support teaching, research, collaborations, practical training, and linkages, as well as promoting the relevance of academic programmes. In particular, s/he shall:
- Teach, examine, and supervise students in field and practical placements;
- Contribute to academic activities;
- Participate in academic activities;
- Teach the load as stipulated in the University Teaching Policy;
- Supervise and advise students on theses, projects, or practicals;
- Provide academic advising to students; and
- Any other responsibility assigned by the Chairperson of the respective Academic Department.
Method of Application
TERMS OF SERVICE:
Successful candidate will be;
- Offered two [2] years’ contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance measureable on quarterly basis;
- In accordance with the LU – Guidelines on Engagement of Staff on Sabbatical Leave and Adjunct Faculty of February 2025, remunerated at a consolidated Honoria equivalent to his/her current grade’s minimum entrylevel basic salary and Commuting Allowance [where applicable]; and
- On extra courses/units taken over and above the stipulated workload, as per the LU Teaching Policy.
