Community Health Program Manager
Overall Job Purpose
The Community Health Program Manager will be responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of donor-funded community health programs in Kenya. This role entails overseeing project lifecycles, engaging stakeholders, ensuring compliance with donor and national health guidelines, managing program teams, and delivering high-impact, sustainable health outcomes at the community level.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Lead the development of project concepts, proposals, and budgets in alignment with donor priorities and national health strategies.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the rollout of community health projects, including emergency trauma clinics, health education, and emergency response programs.
- Ensure programs are implemented on time, within scope and budget, and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate with partners, government ministries, county health departments, and community stakeholders to align program activities with local needs.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor project staff including clinicians, nurses, community health promoters (CHPs), field officers, and program officers.
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools for effective data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Oversee program budgets, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal financial policies.
- Represent the organization in donor meetings, technical working groups, and relevant forums.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, government agencies, and NGOs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in managing donor-funded health or community development programs.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal writing, donor relations, and project budgeting.
- Strong understanding of Kenya’s health systems, community strategy, and public health priorities.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Experience working with county governments and community-based organizations.
- Strong analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
