Job Officer

The Job Officer will support project participants—women in conditions of high vulnerability—in preparing for and accessing the labour market. The role focuses on strengthening employability skills, facilitating job placements, monitoring internships and apprenticeships, and nurturing relationships with companies engaged in the program. The Job Officer will also oversee the implementation and follow-up of the cash transfer scheme linked to employability pathways.
Main Responsibilities
Support to Participants’ Employability Pathways
- Conduct individual sessions with participants to identify their skills, interests, and job-readiness gaps.
- Provide coaching on CV writing, interview preparation, workplace behaviors, and soft skills relevant for employment.
- Support and organize employability workshops and group sessions.
Job Placement and Company Engagement
- Identify job opportunities suitable for participants in coordination with local companies and private sector partners.
- Maintain regular communication with employers to facilitate job matching and address mutual expectations.
- Organize referral and placement processes, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Support the negotiation of internship/apprenticeship agreements under the supervision of the Intervention Team Leader.
Monitoring of Internships and Apprenticeships
- Conduct regular follow-up visits and monitoring calls with participants and employers.
- Identify early signs of challenges during on-the-job placements and intervene promptly to support resolution.
- Document progress, challenges, and outcomes in line with program monitoring requirements.
Cash Transfer Scheme Management
- Monitor the delivery and proper use of cash transfers linked to the employability pathway.
- Ensure participants understand the purpose, conditions and timeline of the cash transfer scheme.
- Keep accurate records of disbursements and collaborate with the Project Accountant for financial compliance.
Data Collection, Reporting and Safeguarding
- Maintain updated and accurate records of participants’ employability progress, placements, and follow-up notes.
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting with data and qualitative insights.
- Ensure all interactions with participants and companies comply with safeguarding and PSEA standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized Kenyan university (Business Admin, Economics or relevant field).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with some time in management
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
