Healthcare Assistant
Job Purpose
- The job holder function isto support the nursesin provision of efficient and compassionate delivery of patient care within a healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks
- Assist the nurse with basic patient care activities such as bathing, and feeding.
- Help Nurses during patients care with mobility, including transferring from bed to chair walking, and repositioning to prevent bedsores.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Support the nursing staff during patient assessments and treatments.
- Assist Nurses in wound care procedure when need be, including getting dressing packs, cleaning and disinfecting services to minimize infection prior to Wound dressing.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, tests, and follow-up visits.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking medical supplies as needed.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infection e.g. dump dusting, disinfection
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, equipment, and common areas.
- Set up and clean medical equipment used in patient care and procedures.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure clear communication e.g. translation
- Relay patient concerns and observations to the nursing staff promptly.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on best practices for his or her role.
- Assist in emergency situations, e.g. availing supplies, taking samples to lab etc.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall patient care.

Academic qualifications
- Certificate in Certified Nurse Assistant course
Professional Qualifications (Special training or Professional certification).

Professional Membership/Licensing requirements
Previous relevant work experience required (including a specific length or type of experience in a certain job or level.)
- Have at least one years’ progressive experience in a similar role in a busy hospital.
