Job Objective
- The job holder will facilitate quality teaching, research, innovations, and linkages in the School of Business, aligning with the University’s strategic plans and direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and other learning situations as assigned by the CoD from time to time.
- Provide leadership to ensure the highest levels of quality, integrity and ethics in all research undertaken in the department and create a dynamic and forward-looking research environment for both staff and students.
- Write research proposals for grants to solve societal problems and expand knowledge through academic publications in internationally recognised journals.
- Conduct research and produce publications, as well as other research output.
- Provide leadership in setting up linkages with the industry through guest lectures, talks, meetings and developing relationships with targeted companies, alumni contacts, government agencies and other potential clients.
- Assist in formulating policies in the School of Business to guide the execution of day-to-day tasks in the various disciplines.
- Contribute to the necessary evaluation and monitoring procedures to ensure both compliance and improvement in teaching, research, and management of all resources.
- Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities to update and enhance skills.
- Participate in the development, review, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Supervise postgraduate students as assigned by the Chair of Department.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests, and ensure timely entry into the examination records management system.
- Participate in peer review of faculty for academic promotion.
- Attend departmental, faculty and University–wide meetings with other staff members.
- Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- Provide advice, guidance, and feedback to students to support their academic progress and refer students to support services as appropriate.
- Any other duties that may be assigned to you by your supervisor.
Qualifications And Experience
- An earned Ph.D. in Management or in a relevant field from an accredited and recognised University.
- Master’s Degree in Management or in a relevant field from an accredited and recognised University.
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated quality and progressive teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent, and research experience.
- A minimum of six (6) high-quality publications in refereed journals since last promotion to the position of Associate Professor.
- Supervised a minimum of five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including at least two (2) at doctoral level.
- Attracted research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
- Registered with the relevant professional body.
- Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
- Evidence of both national and international contribution through scholarly meetings, conferences, research seminars and service in national/international advisory boards.

Job Objective
- The job holder will provide strategic academic leadership in teaching, research, program development, and mentorship in the field of Exercise and Sports Science. The Professor will play a pivotal role in designing and launching academic programs, guiding institutional research agendas, building partnerships, and leading the establishment of the Department of Sports Science and Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas such as exercise physiology, anthropometry, biomechanics, kinesiology, performance analysis, and sports rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests, and ensure timely entry into the examination records management system.
- Lead the development, accreditation, and implementation of new academic programs in Sports Science and Sports Management.
- Spearhead the planning, design, and establishment of a state-of-the-art Human Performance Laboratory for teaching, research, and athlete assessment.
- Provide mentorship to junior faculty and postgraduate students, and foster a vibrant research culture within the department.
- Initiate and lead high-impact, interdisciplinary research projects and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Attract competitive research funding and manage funded projects effectively.
- Participate in and represent the University at local and international academic conferences, workshops, and policy forums.
- Guide the development and implementation of the Department of Sports Science and Management’s strategic plan, structure, and staffing.
- Build academic-industry linkages and partnerships with sports federations, health organisations, ministries, and global institutions.
- Contribute to university governance through active participation in committees, boards, and quality assurance processes.
- Promote innovation, ethical leadership, and inclusivity within academic and co-curricular programs.

Qualifications And Experience
- An earned PhD in Exercise and Sports Science, Physical Education, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated quality and progressive teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent, and research experience.
- A minimum of six (6) high-quality publications in refereed journals since last promotion to the position of Associate Professor.
- Supervised a minimum of five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including at least two (2) at the doctoral level.
- Attracted research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.

- Experience working with professional bodies, regulatory agencies, or industry partners in the sports or health sector is desirable.
