Human Resource and Admin Officer
The HR and Admin Officer supports the organization’s mission by managing day-to-day human resources operations for the Mauritius office, ensuring compliance, promoting staff well-being, and fostering a values-driven workplace culture that aligns with the GPAf’s goals and values.
Main duties
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for staff
- Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions aligned with the position requirements
- Ensure fair, transparent, and inclusive hiring practices.
- Facilitate onboarding, induction, and orientation programs that connect new hires to the organization’s mission and culture.
Employee Relations & Welfare
- Act as a trusted advisor for staff on HR policies, welfare, and workplace concerns.
- Support conflict resolution and grievance procedures in line with organizational policies and the Mauritius labor laws.
- Ensure a healthy and inclusive work environment that upholds the organization’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Maintain effective conflict resolution and uphold the confidentiality and integrity of GPAf’s name in all labour law matters.
Performance Management & Development
- Support the performance management process, ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Collaborate with managers to develop staff growth and capacity-building plans.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
- Administer payroll and statutory deductions in compliance with local regulations.
- Manage employee records and leave tracking.
- Liaise with finance to ensure project budget compliance for HR-related costs.
- Ensure adherence to labor laws, donor HR requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures reflecting best practice and local legislation.
Administration
- Maintain organized and confidential personnel and administrative files (physical and digital).
- Prepare HR-related correspondence, letters, and reports for internal and external use.
- Coordinate logistics for HR meetings, training, and staff welfare activities.
- Support general office administration, including procurement requests, travel coordination, and event planning where needed.
- Assist with document filing, tracking contracts, and maintaining up-to-date organizational charts and contact lists.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related field
- 2–5 years of HR Officer experience (preferably in the nonprofit or NGO sector).
- Experience working in a multicultural team.
- Payroll Experience
- Proficiency and familiarity with HR systems
- An excellent understanding of relevant labour laws and compliance
