About the Role
This position sits within the Electrical team, a highly collaborative unit responsible for the site’s mechanical integrity, asset reliability, and strategic technology application. Reporting directly to the Asset Management Leader, the Instrument & Electrical Engineer will engage with cross-functional groups including Operations, Projects, IT/OT, and Operations Excellence. Your role extends beyond daily troubleshooting into long-term lifecycle management, risk reduction, and technical leadership, making this a deeply influential engineering position.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of electrical, instrumentation, analyzers, and safety-instrumented systems, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory adherence.
- Design and implement electrical projects tailored to plant needs, including upgrades, modifications, and reliability-focused improvements.
- Lead root cause failure analyses, driving corrective actions that incorporate modern engineering methods and industry best practices.
- Support maintenance and operations teams through equipment evaluation, research, and the development of effective technical solutions.
- Collect and analyze operational data to produce accurate, actionable technical recommendations.
- Partner with maintenance craft teams to deliver training that improves safety awareness and equipment reliability.
- Develop comprehensive risk management strategies that identify, evaluate, and mitigate asset reliability risks.
- Provide expert-level support to Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure electrical engineering standards and procedures are upheld.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical electrical engineering role.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ten or more years of electrical engineering experience.
- Experience in petrochemical, power generation, or industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of power distribution system design, analysis, maintenance, and construction standards.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis on electrical system events and implementing corrective actions.
- Professional Engineering licensure.
- Experience using electrical modeling tools such as ETAP or SKM.
- Experience mentoring or coaching engineering personnel.
