Main Role

The Business Development Representative helps open doors for the sales team. You guide early outreach efforts and help qualify each opportunity with care and accuracy.

You also help review inbound leads from marketing. You speak with people who show interest, understand what they need, and decide whether they would be a good fit for a sales meeting. You work closely with sales leaders to hand off quality prospects and help them maintain a strong pipeline.

Core Responsibilities

You guide early outreach by speaking with potential customers through calls, messages, or email. You help them understand what Star Group offers and explain why meeting with the company could be useful for their needs. You look for key details that help the sales team prepare for each meeting.

You research new prospects, review their needs, and shape a simple picture of their goals. You reach out through online platforms and phone conversations. You help move people from early interest to scheduled meetings. Your goal is to help the sales team spend time with high-value opportunities.

You qualify leads from marketing campaigns and help update the messages used for outreach. You share what you learn from your conversations so the company can improve its approach. You help shape new ideas, adjust wording when needed, and support development of better tools for outreach.

You work inside the CRM to track progress. You make sure each step is recorded accurately so the sales team always knows where each prospect stands. You help build a clear path from first contact to scheduled meeting.

Skills Needed

You need a strong interest in finding and qualifying new prospects. You should enjoy talking with people and feel comfortable reaching out even when you expect many people will say no. You need the drive to keep going and the focus to follow up with care.

You must have strong verbal and written communication skills. You need to speak with confidence, stay calm with senior contacts, and share ideas with a clear voice. You need attention to detail and a strong sense of organization. You must use CRM tools with discipline and keep records updated at all times.

You also need resilience, curiosity, and the ability to work as part of a close team while still managing your own tasks without pressure.

Background Requirements
