The Advisory Board Member serves as a Tax, Estate and Structuring Advisor with a focus on high net worth and ultra high net worth planning. The firm seeks someone who understands how tax law, accounting and wealth transfer systems work together. This includes designing, reviewing and stress testing strategies that support private clients, founders and family offices.

The advisor brings a blend of legal and accounting expertise. The work includes shaping planning models, checking for structural gaps and confirming risk points. The specialist helps guide entity layers, trust structures, income strategies and tax positioning across several generations. This role also supports the strategic planning process by reviewing major frameworks before they are rolled out to clients.

Core Expertise Areas

  1. High net worth taxation with skill in capital gains planning, income analysis and loss management.

  2. Estate and trust systems including GRATs, SLATs, ILITs, legacy plans and multi generation transfer models.

  3. Entity structuring such as LLC, LP, S Corp and complex holding structures.

  4. State and local tax strategy including residency, multi state income issues and relocation matters.

  5. Tax planning for alternative investment structures including funds, syndications and SPVs.

  6. International tax is helpful but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guide the firm in building and reviewing major planning models for private clients.

  2. Help shape multi entity plans that support founders, investors and executives.

  3. Review complex tax strategies and confirm that each plan matches legal and financial goals.

  4. Support leadership with structural planning for family offices and private clients.

  5. Offer clear input on documentation, risk review and system design.

  6. Assist with long term planning projects that shape how the firm scales.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Active JD license.

  2. Licensed CPA.

  3. Ten or more years of experience in tax law or advanced planning.

  4. Work with high net worth or ultra high net worth clients.

  5. Clear skill in applying complex tax rules.

  6. Strong documentation habits.

  7. Ability to combine legal, tax and accounting knowledge in one clear strategy.

Preferred Background

  1. LLM in Taxation.

  2. Board Certification in Tax Law where offered.

  3. Experience at a family office, AmLaw 100 tax group or major advisory firm.

  4. Exposure to private funds, SPVs and multi entity systems.
